I am an art historian (and PhD candidate) specialized in modern and contemporary Western art, with a keen focus on painted portraiture in the twenty and twenty-first century. I am also a curator, writer and art critic (member of AICA -International Association of Art Critics- The Netherlands).
I am also a Taekwondo (WTF style) athlete competing in style (poomsae) tournaments, with previous experience in sparring competitions as well.

Taekwondo: martial art and way of life
During the presentation I will briefly talk about the history of this Korean martial art and the philosophy behind its manner of practice. I will also perform and demonstrate certain techniques used in everyday training sessions, as well self-defense techniques that can be used by anyone, with or without prior martial art experience.
